Speaking of Memories

Kanani tagged me with an "Earliest Memory" meme. It's interesting how early memories can be. My sister swears she remembers lying in a baby carriage and recalls the little pom-poms that lined the hood.

My earliest memory was when I was about three years old. My family was temporarily stationed in Trinidad while my father supervised a construction site. I remember playing in the backyard when my feet started to sting, then burn. I screamed and ran into the house through the kitchen door. Mildred, our housekeeper, scooped me up and practically tossed me into the large kitchen sink, turning on the water full blast. I looked down at my little sandaled feet and saw hundreds of little red ants swirling down the drain. Fire ants. Nasty.

In other news, I received a Google Alert this morning. Apparently, The Space Between was on the top 50 of "Most Gifted Contemporary Romances" on Amazon.ca. Kind of amazing, considering they've been listing the book as 'out of stock' for the last two weeks. Buy some more, Amazon!

I did a screen capture where it is today, Page 3, Number 53 between a J.D. Robb and a Danielle Steel. Hee hee hee hee! I won't do a link because it probably won't be there tomorrow. Unless you all order one as a gift! Let's get me on Amazon.com, too! (Too many exclamation points, I know...)

Let's see if some of my friends at Romance Writers Unlimited have some Earliest Memories. I tag:

I replied on my blog, but I'll also post it here:

And thanks to Sandra Cormier aka Chumplet for "tagging" me for my earliest memory. Wow! This one took me a while because some memories aren't memories at all, but stories I've heard about my childhood from my parents or siblings. But here goes: I distinctly recall jumping on my brother's bed at the age of 3, maybe 4. I came from a large family: I was the 5th of 7 kids and we only had a three bedroom/one bath house. So for the first several years, my two younger sisters and I slept on the pullout couch in the living room. My two older sisters had one bedroom, my two older brothers had another, and my parents the last room. Anyhoos, I remember jumping on my brother's bed while he quizzed me on the pictures of his favorite football players at the time. The only one I can remember vividly now is Bart Starr. I'll be checking Sandra's other tags to read theirs as well!

Fire ants! I've never seen them, have only heard of them.
Top 50! That's great!

Thank you for visiting my blog. I'm sorry I haven't been here sooner.

Your paintings are amazing. Truly amazing! Do you sell them? Or are they for your home? I have a friend who paints--you can't believe how talented she is. But once she had her child, she stopped. That depresses me, because art is such a big part of who she is.

And I didn't know you had a book out. (back to one-stop shopping at Amazon!) :-)

On to your topic of fireants--they are nasty, nasty, nasty!! No wonder you remember this. Ugh...

Kanani, you're so lucky you never had a run-in with those little critters.

Church Lady! Thanks for visiting. Yes, I still paint - as a matter of fact I have to do a painting of a cat this week. The client won it in a charity auction. I think I'm done with freebies, though. It seems that's all I've been doing lately. I needs da money from a few commissions.

Yes, pleeeeze order my book!

Hi, Happy Thanksgiving!!

I ordered your book off Amazon, but that's not really what I wanted to tell you.
It was part of a bigger order (go figure) so I typed in the title. Yours didn't come up until I typed your name with it. I don't know if you need to know that, or even care, or what real authors do about this (since I'm still swimming in the slush!)....

Anyway, looking forward to it (but not nearly as much as Bad Ice. I hope it's sexy!)

Yeah, I think there are a couple of other books with "Space" and "Between" in them that sell more than mine. I'd probably be there, but further down the list. Using my name gets better results.

I suppose you'd call it 'Spicy' rather than 'Hot'. My editor had some restrictions due to the line the book was in. But I'm sure you'll find it mildly entertaining. Tell me what you think of Mitch, the crazy used car salesman, but I'm already giving too much away!

Probably due to your purchase, my Amazon rating jumped from 1.6 million to sixty thousand. Woot!

I can't wait for my first edits for Bad Ice. Then it will seem more 'real'.
