Cold Enough For Ya?

Oh, how I hate that expression - this year more than ever.

Patricia Wood (Lottery) is in Calgary visiting Holly Kennedy (The Silver Compass). She complained that she was cold. I suppose when you live in Hawaii, a 12C day in Alberta can seem pretty cold.

I woke up to -12C and three feet of snow this morning. The kids wanted to go to Wal-Mart to buy a Wii game they've been anticipating for two years. I told them they had to dig out the car first.

After digging out a pee path for the dog, I looked up at the roof and was very afraid.

Our Escort is in my neighbour's driveway. It's buried up to the wheel wells with a lovely pyramid of snow on top. She pays for a guy to come with a snowblower so I'll wait before I take that sucker out of the driveway.

Hopefully the strong March sun rays will make short work of the latest onslaught.

Oh, my. And I was all atwitter about returning to Colorado (where it's currently in the 40s) after being in California for 5 months.

And yes, My Double Ds was a tease!
(I'm only a C on a good day.)

Oh my aching back, and arms and legs.
A January storm in March.

Brrrr!!! All this winter weather reminds me vividly of why I left Minnesota.

There are still winter hazards here in NC though, now and then: a few years ago I was reaching for an icicle like you show in your photo, and when it broke, it slipped through my mittened hand and sliced my nose.

If you get a couple decent spring like days, do you get a lot of flooding up there?

We have some flood warnings, but mostly to keep kids away from creeks and rivers. I live on a hill, but our foundation sucks. Thus the basement gets a bit wet during flash thaws.

Ouch, Therese! Reminds me of Ralphie in A Christmas Story. "Those things have been known to kill people!"

Doreen, I'm no Double D, I'm more of a 40 Long.

Oh goodness! I can't show your blog to my Oldest Daughter. She got into a fantastic music school near the Cadnaian border. She HATES the cold, but it's SUCH a good school . . . so we're hoping she picks it (going to visit it next week). Something like this would put her right over the edge.

Me? I like winter and wish I lived somewhere colder.

Last week I was out in front of Smash Box Studios and a taxi pulled. Out jumped Adi Lando, a makeup artist from Toronto. He looked slightly discombobulated due to the long flight, but I think it was also because he'd just gotten out of 8" of new snow and was now in sunshine & warmth!

Okay, so now I officially hate Adi Lando.

Later, when warm breezes waft into my window, bringing the scent of lilacs and the hot winds blow over California, he can officially hate me.

And today I fly back to Hawaii from Seattle.
I am STILL cold but I promise to refrain from mentioning the temperature for at least a few days LOL.

Icicles! How exotic [to me, who's never been further north than Florida]! And there's something beautiful and stark about those branches silhouetted against the snow like that.

Of course, if I could actually feel that cold, which I can't even imagine, I might not think it all quite as lovely and wonderful as I do now.

Super Smash Bros. My kids were counting the days as well...

Exactly! You too, huh? They haven't stopped playing it since they got it.
